Sawn Timber

MM Kotkamills Wood is the oldest sawmill in Finland operating in its original location, though of course nowadays with modern production technology. Annual capacity of the sawmill is 220,000 m³ of sawn timber, mostly used for construction and joinery purposes due to high visual and strength qualities. Fibre products from the process are used as a raw material for board and paper production.

Wood is the only building material in the world in which the production process produces more energy than it uses, thanks to by-products like bark. Wooden buildings bind carbon for decades, even centuries. Furthermore, at the end of their lifecycle wooden building products can still be used for energy production.
