New Structures Focus on Customers: MMK business units

09.10.2012 - Company / Mills

Mayr-Melnhof Karton reorganised its sales structure into seven business units in 2012. By concentrating on product-market combinations and independent units, MMK boosts its market presence with bundled expertise.

Sales at MM Karton are now divided into the WLC (white lined chipboard), FBB (folding boxboard) and Liner product areas and the CEE (Central and Eastern Europe), SEE/CA (South Eastern Europe/Central Asia), OVS (Overseas) regions, all supported by the Services business unit.

The WLC, FBB and Linear business units manage overall quality of the respective cartonboards, sales in western Europe and assume responsibility for all of the relevant customers (key accounts, brand owners, retailers). The CEE, SEE/CA and OVS business units conduct business in the corresponding sales regions and present the company’s entire product range. The Services business unit responds to the market’s growing service requirements and is currently particularly focused on providing professional logistics solutions.

The experiences of the business unit directors up to now confirm that the MMK business units are on the right track:

“Restructuring MMK sales into units according to type of cartonboard has led the WLC business unit to develop ‘its own business identity’, even after just a few months.”
Clemens Stockinger, Business Unit Director of WLC

“The new FBB business unit primarily focuses on the needs of the fresh fibre board market in order to perfect market activities across the board in a product and target-group-oriented manner with bundled expertise.”
Gerhard Brecka, Business Unit Director of FBB

“Liner/FBB/WLC dedicated teams + Liner/FBB/WLC dedicated mill = customer satisfaction.”
Vincent Lambert, Business Unit Director of Liner

“Excellent service, both externally and internally, distinguishes MMK from the competition.”
Stefan Hopfgartner, Business Unit Director of Services

“Going forward, we are going to focus more on partnerships. Contact with the customer has greatly intensified as a result of restructuring.”
Peter Farkas, Business Unit Director of SEE/CA

“In addition to mutual trust, our customers place a great deal of value on expert user knowledge of the requirements of the cardboard industry. We plan to continue along the successful course we have set in 2013.”
Nikolay Petkov, Business Unit Director of CEE

„The dedicated focus on Business Units is also considerably increasing the support of our overseas business. Higher attention - better impact.“
Arnoud Snelleman, Business Unit Director Overseas

“The customer is always our main focus, both in sales and production, and this makes us more flexible, powerful and future-proof. Initial successes are reflected in optimised innovation processes and strengthened customer relationships.”
Horst Bittermann, Head of Marketing

“Against the background of market dynamics, the new organisation structure focuses on efficient internal management of the individual business units and a commitment to presenting a united, market-oriented and outward-looking front and therefore achieving greater proximity to customers. This will allow Mayr-Melnhof Karton to confidently deal with future challenges.”
Franz Rappold, Member of the Management Board of MMK AG, Marketing & Sales, Cartonboard
