Eerbeek: Celebrating the 350th Anniversary

30.11.2011 - Company / Mills

The 350th anniversary of Mayr-Melnhof Eerbeek took place under marvellous weather conditions on 23rd and 24th September 2011.

Over 2.000 people – many Belgian and Dutch customers among them – gathered in a big tent, welcomed by the MMK board members Dr. Wilhelm Hörmanseder and Franz Rappold, as well as the mill’s Technical Director August Steinkellner.

In their laudations, they emphasized that Albaplex™, Linoplex™, Greenplex™ and Silvaboard™ are qualities which gained a great reputation world-wide. The needs of our customers are not only heard but understood: Especially for the packaging of sensitive products, customized solutions like moisture, freeze and grease barriers are optionally offered. Cartonboard is without doubt the most sustainable packaging solution now and in the future.

The following day was open day, 1.500 visitors came to see the production of FBB cartonboard with their own eyes.

Dr. Wilhelm Hörmanseder, CEO of the MM Group, and Eerbeek’s mayor Niels Joosten concluded the festivities with a speech and the inauguration of a monument: Made and dedicated by mill colleagues from a poplar tree – one of the woods, whose fibres are used for pulp – commemorating this happy event.
