At the 26th annual Printissimo | Emballissimo Awards hosted by Austropapier on 18 June in Vienna, this year’s winners of the Pro Carton/PPV Austria Design Award were honoured as ‘Young Design Stars’. Over the course of the event, many promising students from Austrian design schools were recognised for their innovative prototypes. The developments presented by the winners – and by all of the other participants – showed off the creative and innovative potential in paper, cartonboard and corrugated paperboard.
Jennifer Dawes of the Advertising Design Academy in Salzburg received the prize in the ‘packing’ category for her innovative ‘chic tissue’ package. Stephan Putz from the ‘Graphische’ academy of media design in Vienna won the prize in ‘other applications’ for his practical ‘yodel handles’, a carrying system for beverage packages designed to look like traditional ‘Lederhosen’. The trophies were presented by MM board members Ing. Franz Rappold and Dr. Andreas Blaschke. Both winners were invited to participate in a training week with the MM Group where they have received a comprehensive, professional introduction into the working environment in the cartonboard and folding carton industry.
