Pro Carton/ECMA-Award for Venoplex™

The Pro Carton/ECMA Awards 2013 for excellent cartonboard packaging were awarded in September in Dubrovnik. Venoplex™ (GD2) from MM Karton, produced in the Hirschwang mill, took the prize in the category ‘Carton of the Year’, as it did last year. The ‘Twinkle Box’ of champagne manufacturer Moët & Chandon, a very high-quality, isotherm packaging which keeps champagne bottles chilled for up to two hours whilst reliably retaining the freshness and the exceptional qualities of the contents. The developed solution is therefore ideal for replacing the usual bottle coolers made from metal or plastic. Venoplex™ ensures a particularly stable construction for the attractive folding box, which is guaranteed to attract attention at the point of sale with its high-quality print and finishing, as well as its innovative construction. 

German Packaging Prize for MCM (Multicolor Mirabell™)

On the evening before this year’s FachPack at the end of September, the German Packaging Institute premiered the most innovative cross-material packaging solutions of the year as part of its celebratory prize awards. One of the award winners was Multicolor Mirabell™ (GD2) from MMK. The consistent ecological concept of the private natural cosmetics brand alverde from the German dm drug-store was transferred to the folding carton as well as processing and awarded the category ‘Best Packaging’ at the German Packaging Prize 2013. Previously produced on GZ/SBS, at the beginning of the year the incremental switch over to our recycling cartonboard started. Printing is carried out using oil free off-set colours from plant-based raw material. Winner is not only dm and MMK but also the environment.
