FOODBOARD™ App: traceability assured

14.03.2016 - FOODBOARD™, Barriers, Innovations / Investments

For the first time in the cartonboard industry, there is a digital solution that ensures an integrated traceability covering the entire production. Complete traceability of the production processes is enabled.

Traceability thanks to FOODBOARD™ app

Processing and the use of packaging materials for food require a continuous traceability. All manufacturers of packaging which comes into contact with food are obliged to ensure the traceability of their packaging in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004. Nowadays, the supply chain is often facing this as a major challenge, in particular, when for food packaging a record down to the single packaging item is defined. To facilitate this requirement, MMK has developed the FOODBOARD™ app. In addition to the product protection, which FOODBOARD™ provides as a folding box solution for packed food, MMK can also ensure full traceability. An online platform complements the FOODBOARD™ app for research purpose.

Informationen upon click

Origin and processing data are completely, quickly and above all very easily accessible: The user scans a barcode placed on the FOODBOARD™ packaging item label with a mobile device (e.g. tablet or smartphone). Within seconds, the corresponding material and package information and the data for ordering and production are accessible. The information and procedures along the processing chain of the cartonboard pallet are also documented. If the necessity occurs, this digital solution boosts the response time as well as the quality and accuracy of the required documentation. In addition to detailed package information also processing instructions for FOODBOARD™ are available always up to date when using the app.

Traceability available from now on

The FOODBOARD™ app is available for the mobile operating systems Android, iOS and BlackBerry OS and can be downloaded via the respective distribution platform free of charge. An introduction respectively training on how to use the app is carried out by the technical product service (TPS) as part of the FOODBOARD™ induction training of the converting plant.

Networked information brings even more security. The FOODBOARD™ app makes it possible to retrace processes precisely and accurately along the entire production. The supply chain is systematically documented, the confidence in the product continues to rise. The app is now available for all certified FOODBOARD™ converting and packing facilities.
