MM plans entry into Sack Kraft Paper market

07.12.2021 - Recycled Cartonboard, Company / Mills

Extension of successful IPACK™ and ABSORBEX kraft paper products.

The acquisition of the Kwidzyn mill in Poland has opened up several attractive future options for MM Board & Paper. Now it is planned to enter the sack kraft paper market in order to serve the growing demand for sustainable flexible fibre-based packaging products, which is particularly also driven by the substitution of plastic. The focus will be on bleached sack kraft paper. Additionally it is planned to further increase the capacity for our ABSORBEX Saturating Kraft papers.

Peter Oswald, CEO of the MM Group: “In 2021 we have more than doubled sales of our IPACK™ kraft paper and we plan to expand our kraft paper offering with extensible, high strength and high porous sack kraft paper by 2023/24. In addition, we will substantially expand our saturating kraft paper capacity over the next two years.”

MM is Europe's leading producer of cartonboard and folding cartons with an attractive offer in Kraft Papers and Uncoated Fine Papers. The focus is on sustainable and innovative fiber-based packaging solutions. Including the latest acquisitions, MM generates sales of approximately EUR 3.2 billion and employs around 12,500 people.
